Kid Rock wouldn’t let it slide after Bill Maher tried defending himself against President Donald Trump’s claims that he was “drunk” during a White House dinner.
After Maher attended the dinner last month, which also included Rock and ESPN sports analyst Stephen A. Smith, Trump railed at Maher for allegedly being intoxicated at the gathering and walking around the White House with “alcohol in his hand” in a heated rant on Truth Social.
In the Oct. 25 post, the president also called out Maher as a “SLEAZEBAG” and a “pothead,” alleging that the comedian was “very nervous” and “very insecure” during the meeting — and thus, asked for a drink.
On a recent episode of Maher’s HBO talk show “Real Time,” the comedian shut down Trump’s claims about his alcohol intake, but Kid Rock quickly interjected to fact check him, according to Mediaite.
The exchange kicked off after Maher complained that Trump accused him in the social media post of being against the war in Iran.
“I do think he fucked up the execution of it. Why did he write that I was against it when I can show the tape there?” Maher said of Trump and Iran.
Maher had shown clips earlier in the episode to prove that he does support the president’s intervention even amid his criticisms about the Trump administration’s management of the war.
Kid Rock replied, “[Trump’s] a pretty busy man. I don’t know if he has time to fact check.”
“I don’t think he’s fact checking,” Maher hit back. “Plus he said I was drunk. I was not drunk. Okay, I was not noticeably drunk.”

Kid Rock, born Robert James Ritchie, argued that Maher had been “pretty high” during the meeting.
“You were pretty high! Were you not pretty high?” the singer-songwriter added.
“We have a good time,” Maher replied, to which Kid Rock agreed.
Maher then took issue with Trump apparently mixing up the time frame of the dinner, arguing that the president said it was two hours when in reality, it was four hours.
“And it was four hours, right?” Maher asked Kid Rock.
Kid Rock responded, “I had to leave early, but yes.”
“Right, but he says it was two hours. What’s the point of that?” Maher questioned, prompting Kid Rock to ask if Trump was “talking about dinner or the whole thing.”
Yielding, Maher simply replied, “Okay, it doesn’t matter. Why can’t anyone take a joke?”
