COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Columbia City Council recently approved more than a quarter of a million investment for the completion of an inclusive playground.
The city council approved $230,000 on Oct. 8 to the Miracle League of Columbia for the playground at Miracle League Field.
The playground will feature equipment designed to provide children of all abilities with the opportunity to play, learn and connect, said Columbia Mayor Chaz Molder.
“I couldn’t be more proud,” Molder said.
Molder said every child deserves a place where they can feel included.
“This investment reflects our commitment to creating accessible recreational opportunities, and to ensuring Columbia remains a community where everyone has the opportunity to participate and belong,” Molder said.
Molder said the city of Columbia has been a proponent and partner for and with the Miracle League.
“This final step will ensure the success and vitality for this League for years to come,” Molder said. “I am grateful to Maury County Parks & Rec, the Miracle League Board and, most of all, the league participants who provide inspiration each and every time they take the field in Columbia. Our community is a better place by having a Miracle League right here in our own backyard.
