Common ground isn’t keeping embattled Congressman Max Miller (R-Ohio) from holding a grudge against fellow Ohio Republican Sen. Jon Husted.
While on the campaign trail with the Wall Street Journal, Miller reportedly taunted Husted, one of several Republicans who called for Miller to resign from Congress and drop his reelection campaign after disturbing domestic abuse allegations garnered national attention this summer.
Calling his fellow statesman “as entertaining as a two-by-four” and “as smart as a box of rocks,” the congressman added, “My chances of winning are much better than his.”

After ignoring pleas to end what many believed was a losing campaign, Miller is now locked in a tight race with Democrat Brian Poindexter. Husted, the Senate incumbent, is neck and neck with former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.
Republican-aligned groups have reportedly poured millions of dollars into Miller’s race, hoping the GOP can cling to its narrow majority in the House of Representatives.

Miller has also won back the favor of President Donald Trump, who reportedly warned the congressman his reelection chances were slim when his ex-wife’s domestic violence allegations began circulating.
Miller told the Wall Street Journal the president is now “incredibly supportive” and that “it’s much different now.”
“He was very happy with me,” he said. “He says I’m going to win.”
Miller’s ex-wife Emily Moreno, the daughter of Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno (R), has accused the congressman of an extensive pattern of physical and emotional abuse. In court filings and police reports, Moreno has alleged Miller once threw boiling water at her, held a gun to her head and that their daughter’s collarbone was broken when she was in his care.
