If you’re looking for a luxury dream house in Redding, you’re in luck. The area is home to million dollar houses with upscale amenities — and buying one of them may not be the pipe dream is was as recently as last year.
A million dollars will buy you a lot more house in Redding than in many California cities its size or larger. In 117 California cities, seven figures may buy you a starter home — one with a price tag in the lowest third of a city’s average real estate cost range in 2024, according to Zillow.
However, Redding has upscale snazzy homesteads in that price range, some with guest houses, swimming pools, beautiful views and other amenities.
And while price tags for Shasta real estate often trend lower than many California counties, the number of seven figure North State homes with ‘sold’ signs in their front yards is likely to get a bump in 2025. That’s because mortgage guarantors linked to the federal government — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are backing mortgages up to $806,500 starting this year, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency announced in November. That’s a 5.2% increase over what home buyers could get in 2024. Assuming buyers can come up with a 20% down payment (about $200,000), more Americans could be looking for their million-dollar dream house in 2025.
Here are seven Redding area homes on the real estate market in January, all with an asking price of at least a million bucks. Note that some properties, including those in the Tierra Oaks subdivision, are in communities with HOA fees.
Park your plane in this pilot’s paradise at 13201 Moody Creek Drive in north Redding area
Cost: $2,000,000
Want a home with a place to park your airplane? Built in 1993, this 41-acre property north of Redding is a dream home for pilots. It includes a 2,000-foot runway and a 5,000-square-foot hangar with an office, a bedroom and a bathroom.
The 5,417-square-foot house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The property also has RV parking, a pool and a five-car garage. There’s room for horses, and the property is close to golf and trail hiking.
One acre of the property overlaps the Tierra Oaks Subdivision, so no one can build a home behind it, said real estate agent Sandy Dole.
