SoCal native Jeffrey Tiedge recalls vacationing in the desert while growing up and thinking it was a sleepy community. After a financial services career working in Pasadena and Northern California and overseeing the Idaho, Montana and Wyoming region for 17 years, he returned to the desert as senior vice president and branch manager of Raymond James in Palm Desert — and discovered that today’s Coachella Valley is anything but sleepy.

Tasked with growing Raymond James’ footprint in the desert communities, he’s encouraged by the bustling construction sites and the steady influx of people who want to live here. “The growth here is tremendous,” Tiedge says. “It’s a vibrant community where a lot of younger people are coming in. It’s moving away from being simply a retirement community.”

Mitch Rosich considered himself an East Coast guy during more than three decades working in technology venture capital and engineering development. A period he spent traveling the country with his wife led him to revisit the Coachella Valley. The couple determined the area beat the competition in terms of choice places to live.

Rosich did his homework — an education-first strategy he has used his entire life. The idea of embarking on a third career as a financial advisor was prompted in part by friends and family members approaching him for financial advice. “I’ve been an investor for 40 years and amassed a pretty sophisticated portfolio,” he says. “My wife likes to paraphrase that old E.F. Hutton commercial and say, ‘When Mitch talks, people listen.’”
