The Hilton Houston Post Oak at 2001 Post Oak Blvd. has had its challenges, and now it’s likely to go up for sale, again. Having been forced into bankruptcy due to the Covid pandemic, the owner couldn’t pay the mortgage and it was put up for sale, but the potential buyer backed out.
Since JPMorgan Chase took control of Hilton Houston Post Oak, the property’s management team has been working to stabilize the property to prepare it for sale. The Houston Business Journal says the hotel servicer indicated the hotel would be ready to hit the market in 2025.
The hotel started life in 1982 as The Warwick Post Oak Hotel, which later became the Double Tree Hotel on Post Oak. The I.M. Pei-designed hotel was originally developed by Houston-based Hines, which saw an opportunity to bring luxury accommodations to the Galleria/Uptown area. The 14-story, 448-key Hilton Houston Post Oak is one of the largest hotels in Houston.
